I’m missing my Parkrun buzz. This is my sixth week out of action after gallbladder surgery. My last outing was on July 19th. I’ll be starting over on Monday, and next weekend I’ll walk/jog a Parkrun somewhere.
I do know how to start gently and by Halloween this little hiccup will be a thing of nothing.
Not so long ago, one of the volunteers at the SETU Parkrun took this photograph of me. In my head I thought I was going a bit faster. Reality and perception of reality can often be miles apart.

Lest I begin to doubt myself, I’m determined to follow sensible advice. In this case, using Bluesky social shartng, I like the positivity of Laura (@laurasy) who says:
I’m not a fast runner, but I run so I’m a runner.

The most important step is the first one. Deciding to put on the gear and lace up the runners is the start of a process that will get me comfortably running five kilometres.
Let the fun begin.
