A Sunday Ride Through Licky Valley

I had a lovely cycle today with Kevin and Anthony. I was late getting out of bed and had to rush a little bit, but we got to the starting point at Centra on the Youghal Road for 8:30. We headed off to Ring Cross and the Fishtail, then uphill to the closed-down Shanachie pub, down to the Marine, and on to Kiely’s Cross. It was a bit misty, as it usually is down around there.

At Kiely’s Cross, we took the back road down through Licky Valley to Clashmore. This really is a gem! I haven’t cycled it in this direction for quite a while. It’s a lovely twisty, quiet road, and it just seems to go on forever. Yes, there is one dodgy corner down at the bottom of the hill, just crossing the bridge. But other than that, it’s a marvelous, marvelous road. Usually, we’re coming up this hill and taking it easy, but today, we were heading down in relaxed mode.

After Clashmore there’s a long uphill drag, which seems to go on forever but in reality, it’s only five kilometers. We cycled at a brisk pace back towards Kereen and took the Bog Road back to Dungarvan. As we did last Sunday, coffee was at Teach Ormonde. My turn to pay. Coffee was nice. The lads continued their second loop and I headed home. Next week, I will be able for the full route.

Marion headed to Dublin with her friend Mary because she (Marion) is staying overnight with Oliver. So I relaxed for the afternoon, did a little bit of gardening, a little bit of blogging, and yeah, nice relaxing day.

My parcel from Farmer Grassy arrived on Friday with spring bulbs: allium, daffodils, tulips, and a few others. So I spent a little while potting some of those. I have about two or three more pots to do and will try to get them done over the next few days.

I had a problem with the WordPress reader and had to get onto the support to see if I could get it sorted. I think it’s sorted, and I did a short blog just to let readers know what the problem is. It’s a simple solution, but it’s not obvious.

Six-on-Saturday post is planned out for next weekend. I’ve selected the plants that I’m featuring, and I’ve put them into the template. All I need to do then is add a little bit of text to each one during the week. Generally, I try to do that bit by bit, one by one whenever I get a little chance here and there during the week.

A gentle, productive Sunday all round.
