It’s been a hectic week. I didn’t have time to twist sideways. Monty Don is stepping down from Gardeners’ World after 23 years and I’m gathering all my certificates and updating my CV. I’ll be keen to get an interview, and hoping I might get to round two for discussions about terms and conditions. I’m a serious candidate. My intention is to present this week’s garden highlights for Six-on-Saturday. I feel the panel will be impressed.
Standard Rose
This delightful rose bloomed prolifically in May. Now it’s getting ready for round two. During that interval, despite severe drought, I took good care of it.
Osteospermum
Not my garden, but very definitely my colours. This has very strong emotional impact for me because I saw it during the week on a grave nearby. Not just any grave. There was a connection to my family. I was hesitant to take the photograph.
Many will know it as African Daisy or Cape Daisy.
Arabis
Two pictures here. Looking at the first one, there’s no sign of Arabis. However, a keen eye will zoom closely to see it.
You went back up to zoom in, did you? What are you like!
New Planter
I was told to take things easy for six weeks after my gallbladder surgery, and I did. Last Monday was the beginning of week seven and I immediately overextended myself. Hindsight is 20/20. I would have been better to construct this over a few sessions.
Nandina
Nandina is the beautifully coloured shrub at the front. Also known as Heavenly Bamboo, it’s an attractive evergreen shrub, despite not actually being a bamboo. It is beginning its Autumn display.
Rosa ‘Whisky Mac’
I think it’s ‘Whisky Mac’. Beautiful scent, but the blooms don’t last very long.
It’s A Problem
Some WordPress users have told me that my posts are not appearing in Reader. I’m trying to get to get answers from support. It’s not an easy process!
