No waffle from me — straight to the point. It’s the first weekend of September and I’m with other gardeners joining Jim at Garden Ruminations for yet another Six-on-Saturday, a meme that brings our garden updates together in one central hub. Thanks very much, Jim. Blogs, Bluesky, Blogspot, Instagram or X: different platforms, same idea. A rare few can bilocate. It’s a very special talent.
Actually, just before I proceed, there’s something readers should know. I was very impressed by three of N20Gardener’s plants last weekend, and I commented on the post, mentioning that I’d feature Alchemilla, sedum and Heuchera this week. So, here I am proceeding, finally, to make a start…
Alchemilla
Raindrops on Alchemilla yesterday, sitting silently in splendid isolation. I notice that some creature has been nibbling the leaf. In any event, after the severe drought of July and August, it is wonderful to see these droplets. The plant and the critters would say the same if they could say the same.
Sedum ‘Geraldine’
Given to me by my friend Geraldine a number of years ago. It’s just coming into flower, perhaps a bit earlier than expected. Bees and butterflies have been busy around it.
Heuchera
What a tangled mess! There are three Heuchera plants altogether. They are well beyond the deadline date for a thorough tidy up. A deep clean, so to speak.
Another Pansy
Last week I included a pansy in the colours of my native County Waterford. Today, I’m showing the colours (near enough) of County Wexford, now home to our daughter and her family.
Autumn
I had a Leuconthemum last year. I did like it, but I took it out because I simply didn’t have room for it. Fortunately, my attempt to remove it completely was not completely successful! There’s a sliver of it growing, and it amounted to about six flower heads. Now, it’s finished for the season. Truthfully, I’m happy it’s still there.
This is it as it was at its best.
Geranium
Strictly speaking, it’s a Pelargonium. But I’m not strict. Once I understand that it’s a Geranium my mind is at ease. Purists will insist I’m not a true believer. See if I care!
