Yesterday, (Thursday) I had another busy morning, first at the dentist, and then a telephone medical appointment, which was all good.
About midday, Kevin and I headed off in a very strong headwind to Villierstown. We decided it would be easier to go that way rather than down towards Kilmac. Coffee in Villierstown. We didn’t delay, just coffee, maybe 10 minutes max. After a quick detour down to the quay we sailed home with a fabulous tailwind. All good. Legs are feeling much stronger.

No sign of the billionaires on the river. Dyson and Zuckerberg are keeping a low profile.
The River Blackwater
The River Blackwater rises in County Kerry and flows to the sea at Youghal. Much of Ireland’s ‘Golden Vale’ is drained by this Big River.
In Irish the river called An Abhainn Mór. Literally translated as the Big River.
Lately, two English and American billionaires have purchased pads by the river. Dyson’s Ballinatray Estate, and Zuckerberg’s Strancally Castle are downstream from Villierstown.
Later, afterI had updated my journal and published this short article, I came across a beautiful piece by Khalil Gibran. It’s called ‘Fear’.
They say that before entering the sea,
a river trembles with fear.
She looks back at the path
she has traveled, from the summits,
the mountains, the long winding road
that crosses forests and villages,
and sees before her an ocean so vast
that entering it seems nothing other
than having to disappear forever.
But there is no other way.
The river cannot go back.
No one can go back.
Going back is impossible in existence.
The river needs to take the risk
and enter the ocean.
It is only by entering the ocean
that the fear will disappear,
because it is only then
that the river will know that it is not
a matter of disappearing into the ocean,
but of becoming the ocean.
Happy Friday.
