From 9/11 to New Bike Day

Twenty-five years after 9/11, I find myself cycling with a former pupil on an extraordinary charity journey. Trump dominates the news, alongside renamed lakes, quirky airport discoveries and, thankfully, the joy of New Bike Day.

  • 💔 25 years ago, I remember watching in horror as planes were crashed into The World Trade Centre.
  • ❤️ I’m cycling tomorrow (Saturday 12th) with a former school pupil who is completing a 30,000km charity spin around the world. I think I’ll be emotional. I had intended protesting in Dublin, but this trumps everything.  The young cyclist is supporting his community. It’s what so many good people do.
  • 🚩 DJT is Ireland’s biggest visitor this week. He is also the favourite to win the Irish Open Golf Championship. It will be his 31st time as Irish champion. He has claimed it should be 34.
  • 🇨🇦 Trump renamed Lake Ontario “Lake America”. Apparently, some city council somewhere in Canada renamed Trump Avenue to TACO Road. Residents approved the change.
  • 🇮🇹 Fun: Italian airport officials at Turin found a dried crocodile head inside a passenger’s luggage.
  • 🚴 Last Sunday was a red letter day. It was also New Bike Day. Yeah!

Return for more News, Notes & Nonsense next week.
