Here we are on Day 6 of Cathy’s meme ‘A Week of Flowers 2023’ over at Words and Herbs. What a great idea to remind ourselves of summer in these dark days! It also reminds me these scenes will return again. The world turns with us.
Someone featured Campanula earlier in the week, but alas my memory has let me down. This is a lighter variety with an almost unpronounceable name. Hardy, vigorous and persistent, Campanula portenschlagiana is an alpine, easily grown in rock gardens, on walls, in front of borders, having a mass of small purple bells in summer.

Very nice Páraig. I do like alpines and I love Campanulas. Anything that likes dry ground thrives here, so I will put this on my list of plants to consider in spring. The name is a mouthful though! Have a good day. 🌼

I have the same Campanula in one bed and, despite my overall dry conditions, it routinely does a great job of covering bare ground.

A beautiful swish of little purple bells. It looks especially sweet nestled up with that bit of Tiarella.

Oh, well spotted! I had missed that! Great little plant too. It’s in a pot and gets moved to eherever a gap needs filling.

The Campanula sounds like a very versatile plant, Páraig, with a very pretty flower. It would really brighten your garden. :)
